COLORADO

A Monotone Photoshoot of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison

From the deep Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado comes a dark and powerful majesty, radiating from its stone walls. The jagged ridges, sharp corners, and sheer faces cast dark shadows on the canyon below, creating wide tonal ranges on the stone patterns left from years of erosion. This high-contrast black and white photoshoot attempts to capture the display of shadows rocky faces and the detail in the erosion patterns that may otherwise not get much attention in the face of the canyon's overall size. The photo style was inspired by Ansel Adams and his groundbreaking black and white landscape photography.
