HALO PISTE was designed to improve ski student safety on the slopes, especially those in large ski school groups. On busy ski resorts, students are often separated from their groups leading to panic, confusion, and disruption to lesson time. Halo Piste's mission is to improve the instructor's teaching experience and student safety by maintaining group unity on the slopes and alerting others quickly in an attempt to reassemble disrupted groups before the situation escalates.
Using GPS technology, Halo Piste is constantly measuring distances between students and the instructor, checking to make sure students are within a safe, user-set distance. Should a student fall behind, a timer with audio feedback will encourage the student to return to the safe zone. When the timer runs out and the student has still not caught up, the instructor is alerted by Halo's alert system through audio and light flashes. The student's Halo also flashes to alert passerby that they are separated from their group.
