The STRATA STOOL was designed to become an iconic, luxury, standout addition to any home space. Acting as both an aesthetic and functional piece of furniture, this step-stool product allows users to access out of reach items or perhaps prop up their feet when seated, while still looking like a unique accent piece. The majority of step-stools available on the market today look cheap or basic which requires them to be stored away so as to not inflict visual damage on the surrounding interior. This is a stool that should not be hidden from view. It can stay out in your living room, kitchen, or bedroom, making it always accessible while not becoming an eyesore.
Crafted from unstained birch plywood and aluminum rods, Strata's plain and clean finish makes it suitable for a range of interior decor settings. These material choices also make it suitable for cost-effective and scalable production, with joints created for easy assembly and a stable weight-bearing structure. The layered design is not only visually interesting because of its direct aesthetics, but also because of how it interacts with the light around it, creating dramatic shadow displays that extend its form beyond its physical constraints.
Strata was a team project designed and manufactured together with Lucas Pozzobon.
